What We Do

Using our team’s combined experience in public policy, law, government and communications, Issues Management advocates for clients in the support and defense of their interests. The firm’s goal is to help them deal with the public issues and events that affect their bottom lines and their reputations. Based on our client’s need, our work may take different directions. Typically, our combined problem-solving skills are applied in one or more of these areas to create multi-faceted campaigns:

Legislative Advocacy
Regulatory Counseling/Project Management
Environmental Issues Management
Strategic Communication
Grassroots Advocacy and Coalition-Building
Business Development
Crisis Management

Crisis Management

Issues Management works with our clients helping them to identify, assess, understand, and cope with a serious situation, from the moment it first occurs to the point where the crisis is resolved.

Not in My Backyard
A global power company hired Issues Management to help gain approvals for two wind farms, one in northeast Pennsylvania, the other in West Virginia. While many in the communities were excited about the projects and the potential economic opportunities wind development would bring, others focused on perceived environmental issues, many of which were actually NIMBY - Not in My Backyard - concerns. Issues Management developed comprehensive community outreach plans, which included meetings with lease holders, environmental organizations, schools, service organizations as well as officials from municipal and county government. Working with the client, we developed a package of materials that could be used for members of the public as well as the local press including fact sheets, op-ed articles and letters to the editor. We provided media and community outreach training for staffers, giving them the confidence and tools to handle tough questions.
